SHACHI KAUSHIK

Shachi is a children’s media enthusiast who loves to read, write and create content for children.

Raised in India, Shachi moved to the United States a couple of years ago with her husband to begin a new life.

As an active community member, Shachi volunteered at the Round Rock Public Library, where she hosted a bilingual Hindi-English storytime. Over the years, the story time had become popular within the community, receiving a significant response from parents. The joy brought to children’s faces by reading stories to them has always been the driving force for Shachi. She receives immense pleasure and gratification with her story time acts for children. As a result, she looked for other ways to spread the joy and joined the Children’s Media Industry.

Shachi contributes to a monthly column, ‘The Picture Book World’ for the Austin South Asian journal. As there are numerous picture books  Shachi’s focus is on cultural diversity, authenticity, and engaging content while short-listing some of the best works available in the market. After all, great books are a window through which a child can see new worlds.

To further share her passion for children’s content, Shachi also started SmartyHathy, a free downloadable activity book for children which is enjoyed by parents.

Apart from children’s books, she also runs her own YouTube Channel, “Happy Hindi Learners”, a channel for parents who wish to teach their children Hindi and introduce the Indian culture.

Shachi now lives in Vancouver, British Colombia, where she is working on the YouTube Original animated series ‘The Guava Juice Show.’

When she is not working, Shachi spends her time hiking, watching sitcoms, and reading.
